Description
This extraordinary Colt Single Action Army revolver, manufactured in 1882, is a documented factory-engraved example with black powder frame configuration and authentic antique appeal. Shipped to Hartley & Graham of New York on September 30, 1882, the revolver is confirmed by a Colt factory letter, noting its 5 ½” barrel, nickel finish, and elegant scroll engraving.
The factory engraving covers roughly 50% of the surface, with tasteful floral scrolls, punch dot backgrounds, and starbursts on the ejector housing and top strap. The grips are a gorgeous set of aged antique ivory, showing natural grain and rich patina, enhancing the revolver’s frontier character.
Retaining a pleasing silver-gray tone from a worn nickel finish, the revolver remains in good mechanical condition and visually consistent with its age. A piece of living American history, this revolver will appeal to advanced Colt collectors and anyone with a passion for 19th-century Americana.
